Here are some of the ways we serve Jesus in our local community and abroad:
Scripture in Schools:
Members at St Mark's teach Scripture at La Perouse, Soldier's Settlement, Chifley and Malabar Primary schools. Currently, there are 15 classes totalling over 300 children in these four schools. Our aim is to teach the children who Jesus is, and that they can have a personal relationship with our heavenly Father through Jesus.
Chesalon Nursing Home:
We are a supporter of Chesalon, providing those who reside there with a regular Holy Communion service is held at Chesalon Nursing Home by our ministry staff.
Support for missionaries abroad:
We aim to encourage and support mission overseas. Currently our members support financially and prayerfully, via Church Missionary Society, the work of Andrew Buchanan in Indonesia, Kingsley and Roni Box in Slovenia, Danny and Debbie Mullins in France, and Grahame and Cathy Smith in Japan. A number of our members also give to the Bush Church Aid society, which makes possible ministry in central and northern Australia.
Other Events:
Each year we celebrate Christmas with Carols by Candlelight in Pioneer Park. It is a wonderful evening of family activities, carol singing and Christmas message for the community.
St Mark's has also hosted a "Big Morning Tea", with all proceeds going towards cancer research.
Other ministries include baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals.
