Are you an authentic Christian? By that I mean, are you a 24/7 disciple of Jesus Christ, as opposed to just a ‘Sunday Christian’?
I heard a story of this week about a dentist. He drives a luxury sports car on the weekend, but a Camry during the week, and the reason is because he doesn’t want his patients thinking he is ripping them off. It really bugged me when I heard that story. I wouldn’t want to see a dentist like that. What else is he hiding? He is two faced. But what about you? Do you lie and cheat during the week, ripping others off, blending into the world, or are you the real thing? Do you say the right things on Sunday, but swear and slander off the record? One of the reasons I like living next to the church is that people see me for who I am. I can’t hide. If I tried, people would very soon find me out ! Sure, I have secrets like anyone else, but more than most people , my life is out there for people to see. From the moment I drive into the parking lot and unload the car, I can’t hide. By the way, it’s also one of the reasons why I don’t like living in the rectory! God wants us to be real 24/7 disciples of Jesus Christ. And what a relief!. Who wants to pretend?!
God hates hypocrisy (which is what I’m talking about here), and it is totally illogical. God sees our heart; he knows exactly what we’re like. And what he thinks (not what others think) is what matters. Praise God. He knows us inside out, better than we know ourself, but he continues to love us! Be the real thing! (Andrew).
