Biggest Morning Tea

Cancer is not a statistic ‘out there’. It is a personally confronting disease. It affects our dearest friends, brothers, sisters, parents, and even our own selves.
Jesus loved the whole person– he had compassion on people’s soul, but also on their bodies.
For these reasons, we’re hosting a morning tea for the Cancer Council. It continues to do great work in funding cancer research, prevention and treatment. Last year we were one of the biggest contributors to the Biggest Morning Tea– earning us one of their signature teacups!
Some people believe that suffering puts a dent in the Christian faith. “How can a good God allow suffering?” Or, “isn’t it absurd that you still suffer if your God is the God of salvation?”
However this sort of questioning misses the mark. For those that have been made right with God and now have peace with the sovereign Lord of all history and the whole universe, suffering does not dent our confidence or cause us anxiety. As if anything can!
While we do not like it, and while we do not completely understand its purpose, and while there is pain and anguish in it, God’s love has been poured into our hearts, and we are convinced by the gospel, that God loves us always. Nothing can separate us from him. And what’s more, suffering has an integral part to play in perfecting faith.
We pray that you will have a great cup of coffee or tea with us, and enjoy being here. Thank you for coming and please give generously to the work of the Cancer Council. And most of all, we pray that you will know the riches of God’s kindness and patience to you in Christ Jesus.
(Andrew.)
