“All over the world the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has among you since you first heard it and understood God’s grace in all its truth” (Colosians1:6). This is true here at St Mark’s and around the world.
One of our many concerns is that we raise up missionaries and support those in the field. The Church Missionary Society is the organisation that provides training, pastoral and logistical support for our four missionary families. Last month they had a huge fundraising push across the churches in our diocese to raise much needed money to cover the costs of missionaries this financial year. I am really glad to inform our church that Parish Council has decided to give $6,000 towards CMS, Bush Church Aid, and Anglicare (evenly split) from a large donation given to us. On top of this, please give what you can, and pray for these necessary agencies that partner us in spreading the gospel around the globe. Karen Barnard will be collecting for Christmas presents for our missionary kids soon too. Here is snippet of a story from Andrew, our missionary in Indonesia-
“Tuti, a former student of Andrew, ministers in a couple of villages in a remote area. In Tuti’s area, numbers of the children don’t continue after primary school. The locals are keen to be involved in church, though numbers of the adults (particularly men) don’t own their own Bibles. In the midst of these challenges Tuti is seeking to encourage congregation members to have private or family devotions, has started a newsletter for the youth group and is establishing educational initiatives such as a kindergarten and English courses. Tuti is one example of numbers of able young people with a passion for ministry serving faithfully in highly under-resourced contexts. She reminds me of what I am doing here! Pray for her and churches like hers!”
This is one example of how the gospel is transforming lives and communities. Please join us in giving and praying for the gospel to be spread throughout God’s world.
