One of the objectives of Connect 09 is to provoke us into active, loving, and prayerful concern for all the different people groups of our surrounding suburbs. As a diocese we’ve been pretty good at sharing the gospel with our friends and family, but not so good at connecting with people who are different to us. Part of the problem is that communities generally, have become disconnected within themselves.
In the Connect 09 calendar, we are in the preparation period, that is, the research and planning stage. We want to know who are the different people groups in our area. We have identified some, but there are surely more to discover. It would be good to know how many and how significant are the different affiliations that make these groups so we can better ‘pray, connect, and expect’.
To help us plan, a group of us are going doorknocking over the next few months. We want to get out and about and meet some of the local people and learn about them. We will also be having special congregational meetings to talk about connecting with the different groups of people nearby.
Please pray that our Heavenly Father will call many into his new and eternal community, and he might use us to this end.
